Cookie Policy
Effective 2 May 2026 · Four categories · Consent-drivenThis page lists every cookie 4uit.ca uses, what it does, how long it lives, and how to turn it off. Plain English, no dark patterns — the non-essentials are off by default until you explicitly opt in.
01. What cookies are
Small text files a website asks your browser to store. They let the site remember things between page loads (essential), measure traffic (analytics), or follow you across sites (advertising). We use them sparingly for the first two, and not at all for the third. Similar technologies — browser storage, pixels, beacons — are covered by this policy.
02. The four categories
Essential
Required for the site to work; cannot be disabled; no tracking. The site sets no persistent essential cookies on its own — they appear only when you submit a form (anti-spam token), use the support portal (session), or pass through our edge provider (security).
Analytics
Help us see which pages get used. Off by default; set only after you choose “Accept analytics” or “Accept all” on the banner; can be switched off again at any time.
Functional
Remember preferences — including your consent choice itself, which is always-on because we have to remember whether you said no.
Marketing
A Google Ads conversion tag, loaded only if you opt in to marketing. It is off by default and stays off unless you tick that box; decline it and no advertising storage is set at all.
03. The cookie list
Every cookie set by 4uit.ca, who sets it, and what it does:
Analytics rows appear only if you enabled that category. The Cloudflare row exists only while our DNS runs through Cloudflare; if we move off, it drops from this list.
04. How we get consent
Per Quebec’s Law 25 and PIPEDA’s consent expectations, non-essential cookies are set only after explicit consent. On first visit the banner offers three choices: Accept all (turns on analytics), Reject non-essential (only essentials run), or Customise (category by category). Your choice is recorded for 12 months, and you can change it any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.
05. How to control cookies
Beyond our banner, your browser manages cookies directly — see the instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on for GA across all sites.
If you block all cookies the site still works for browsing. The banner may reappear each visit — we cannot remember your “no” without a cookie — and form submissions may be slower because some anti-spam checks rely on them.
06. Do Not Track and GPC
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where your browser sends one. We do not honour the older Do Not Track header — the standard was never finalised and most browsers no longer set it meaningfully.
07. Changes and contact
If cookies are added or removed, this page is updated and the effective date moves. Material additions — a new third-party tracker — trigger a fresh consent prompt.
