// IT CONSULTING OTTAWA · ON FIXED-FEE · SCOPED

IT consulting in Ottawa, scoped and finished.

Migrations, security assessments, infrastructure decisions and vendor selection for Ottawa businesses — fixed-fee projects with a written answer at the end, not an hourly meter.

Consulting should end. A good engagement answers the question, hands over the documentation, and gets out of your way.

4UIT provides IT consulting for Ottawa businesses: the project work that sits outside day-to-day support — moving, building, assessing, deciding. Every engagement is scoped in writing and priced fixed-fee before it starts. If what you actually need is ongoing operations, that's managed IT services; if something is on fire today, start with IT support.

Microsoft 365 and cloud moves

Tenant migrations, on-prem Exchange retirements, Google Workspace switches, SharePoint re-organizations — and the hardening pass that should always follow: MFA, conditional access, email authentication, Intune device enrollment. Our rule is boring by design: users log in Monday and nothing feels different except the problems are gone.

Security assessments

A practical, engineering-grade review of identity, endpoints, email, backups and firewall posture — mapped against what cyber-insurance questionnaires and Canadian privacy law actually require, and delivered as a prioritized fix list in plain English. We review regulated environments — healthcare, law offices, dental clinics — with their specific obligations in view.

Infrastructure decisions

Server refresh or cloud? Which firewall, which backup vendor, which ISP contract? We've made these calls enough times to give you a defensible recommendation and the reasoning behind it — in writing, vendor-neutral except where we tell you exactly why we prefer something.

What you get

A written deliverable you own: the decision, the reasoning, the costs, the sequence. Documentation good enough that any competent provider could execute it — including, if you choose, us.

Common questions.

What does an IT consulting engagement look like?

Scoped and fixed-fee. We agree on the question — migration, security posture, infrastructure plan, vendor choice — do the work, and hand you a written answer you own. No open-ended hourly meters, no report that exists to sell the next report.

Do we need to be a managed client to hire you for a project?

No. Consulting stands on its own — many engagements are one-time projects for businesses with their own IT arrangements. If a project surfaces gaps that need ongoing attention, we'll say so once, in writing, and leave the decision with you.

Can you do Microsoft 365 migrations?

Yes — tenant-to-tenant moves, on-prem Exchange to Exchange Online, Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, plus the hardening that should follow: MFA and conditional access, sensitivity labels, Intune enrollment. Done once, done boring.

Do you do security assessments?

Yes — a practical review of identity, endpoints, email, backups and firewall posture against what Canadian insurers and regulators actually ask, with a prioritized fix list in plain English. It is an engineering review, not a compliance theatre exercise. The security stack we deploy ourselves is the same one we recommend.

How is consulting priced?

Fixed-fee, scoped before start — the number you approve is the number you pay. If scope changes mid-project, we re-quote in writing before continuing.

Have a project that needs an adult in the room?

20-minute call. Describe the question; we'll tell you what answering it takes.
