Barrhaven computer repair, done properly.
Laptops, desktops and Macs. Free diagnostic, a fixed price before we touch anything, and your data handled like it matters. Drop in on Thurston Drive or we come to you.
Most computer problems are one of six things. The trick is knowing which one before you start spending money.
We are an IT operations company that also runs a repair bench, which means your laptop gets diagnosed by someone who fixes servers for a living. It also means we will tell you when a machine is not worth repairing — a five-year-old laptop needing a board and a battery is usually a new laptop, and saying so costs us a job but keeps you coming back.
Symptoms, causes, and what it usually takes.
The honest version. Every machine gets a free diagnostic first, because the same symptom can have three different causes and only one of them is expensive.
| Symptom | Usual cause | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|
| 01Will not turn on at all | Usual causePower supply, battery, or failed mainboard | Typical fixDiagnostic first — often a part, sometimes not worth it |
| 02Painfully slow, freezes | Usual causeFailing mechanical drive, or heat and dust | Typical fixSSD upgrade — the single best return on an older machine |
| 03Cracked or black screen | Usual causePanel damage, or a failed display cable | Typical fixScreen replacement, usually same or next day |
| 04Pop-ups, redirects, strange behaviour | Usual causeMalware or unwanted software | Typical fixVirus removal and a clean-up, with the cause explained |
| 05Blue screens or random restarts | Usual causeFaulty memory, a bad driver, or a dying drive | Typical fixHardware diagnostics before anything is replaced |
| 06Will not boot, files at risk | Usual causeDrive failure or corrupted system | Typical fixData recovery attempt first, repair second |
Also on the bench: keyboard and battery replacements, liquid damage assessment, Mac and Windows reinstalls, memory upgrades, and setting up a new machine with everything moved across from the old one.
The part people are actually worried about.
Nobody hands over a laptop worried about the screw count. They are worried about the photos, the tax records and who is going to look through them.
See all servicesWe ask before we touch anything
If a repair risks your data — a drive replacement, a reinstall — you hear about it and approve it before we start. Nothing gets wiped because it was faster that way.
Nothing is copied off without permission
If a backup is needed to do the work safely, we tell you, we do it to encrypted storage, and we delete it once you confirm the machine is right.
Failed drives get one honest attempt
We recover what we can at the bench and tell you plainly when it needs a specialist clean-room lab. We will not charge you to fail slowly at something we cannot do.
Your privacy is not a policy page
Technicians open what the repair requires and nothing else. The same people run IT for dental clinics and law firms under PIPEDA obligations; the habit does not switch off at the repair counter.
Five steps, no mystery.
The same process whether you walk in with a laptop or we come out to a desktop that will not move.
Drop in or call
Bring it to Thurston Drive, or phone and we will arrange to collect or come to you.
Diagnostic
We find out what is actually wrong. This costs nothing and you get the answer either way.

One price, approved by you. If we find something else mid-repair, we stop and call.
Repair
Most jobs are same or next business day. Parts on order are the usual exception, and we tell you up front.
Handover
Tested in front of you where we can, with a plain explanation of what failed and how to avoid it next time.
If the repair costs more than the machine is worth, we will say so and tell you what to buy instead — including where to buy it cheaper than from us. An honest no costs us one invoice and earns the next five.
Small things that save you a trip.
Walk-ins are welcome, but a phone call first means the right person and often the right part is waiting when you arrive.
The ones people actually ask.
If yours isn’t here, just give us a call — you’ll speak to someone who works on the machines.
The diagnostic is free and the quote is fixed before any work starts. Common jobs — an SSD upgrade, a screen, a battery, malware removal — are quoted on the spot once we know what we are dealing with. You will never get an invoice larger than the number you approved.
Most repairs are same or next business day. The exception is a part we do not stock, which usually adds two to three days — and we tell you that before you leave, not after.
Not without being asked first. Where a repair puts data at risk we tell you and get your approval before proceeding. If the drive itself has failed, recovery becomes the first job rather than an afterthought.
Yes — MacBooks and iMacs, for drives, memory where it is replaceable, batteries, screens, software problems and macOS reinstalls. Some newer models are heavily integrated and we will tell you honestly when a repair is not economic.
Often the fix is worth it — an SSD in a five-year-old laptop is transformative for a modest cost. Sometimes it is not, and we will say so, tell you what to buy, and move your data across for you.
Yes, on-site across the National Capital Region. It is usually the right call for desktops, anything connected to a lot of peripherals, or when someone cannot be without the machine for a day.
Constantly — that is the main business. If you are managing more than a handful of machines, one-off repairs get expensive fast and a managed arrangement is the cheaper structure. Ask on the call and we will tell you which makes sense.
Yes. We do mobile repair across Barrhaven — Half Moon Bay, Stonebridge, Longfields, Chapman Mills, Riverside South, and out to Manotick. You stay home; we come to the kitchen table or the basement office, diagnose the problem, and most of the time fix it on the spot.
Yes. Home-office network and printer issues are some of the most common Barrhaven calls — slow Wi-Fi to the basement, two-storey range problems, printer drivers gone missing after a Windows update, NAS or shared-folder failures. We diagnose end-to-end (modem, router, switch, AP, device) rather than just rebooting things.
Most gaming PCs and laptops are same-day or next-day. Common issues are thermal (dust-clogged fans throttling performance), failing storage, GPU driver corruption, or Windows reinstalls after malware. We fix what's broken, point out what's about to break, and don't sell upgrades that aren't worth the money.
Yes. Stuck VPN clients, M365 or Google Workspace sign-in issues, multi-monitor problems, audio/microphone failures on Teams or Zoom, and slow corporate-laptop performance — we work through them with you and document anything we change so your IT department can see what we did.
On-site is best for non-portable desktops, network and Wi-Fi issues, multi-device family setups, and anyone who values not packing up their machine. Drop-off (5-2000 Thurston Drive, Ottawa, ON K1G 4K7) is best for laptops with a single hardware fault — screen, keyboard, battery — where there's nothing to diagnose at the source.
